River City Rascals News Release

The first-place River City Rascals announce the acquisition of outfielder J on Myers from the Long Island Ducks in exchange for OF Evan Crawford, LHP Tommy Organ, and a Player To Be Named Later.

As a veteran Frontier Leaguer, and two-time Gateway Grizzlie, Jon Myers spent his first professional season with the then Florida Marlins Rookie level affiliate in 2011. During the following two seasons in Gateway, Myers belted a combined 45 Home Runs while driving in 121 and hitting over .330 each year.

The 27-year-old outfielder then took his talents to the Long Island Ducks Professional Baseball Team in 2014 where he has hit 4 Home Runs and driven in 16 while hitting .243. The Ducks current roster includes such former Major Leaguers as IF Bill Hall, OF Lew Ford, P Jeremy Accardo, P Jon Meloan, and P Mitch Talbot. Myers will, therefore, bring not only a ferocious bat to the Rascals lineup, but he will also bring experience to the River City locker-room.

In exchange for the fearsome bat, the Rascals gave up second-year River City outfielder, Evan Crawford, who hit over .300 last season and has shown many signs of promise this year when he's be healthy. Also on their way to Long Island is rookie LHP Tommy Organ, who has struggled in his past two starts but has also shown signs of promise this year, including his near no-hitter in start number one of his young professional career.

The entire River City Rascals Organization wishes the best of luck to both Crawford and Organ in their future baseball endeavors and welcomes outfielder Jon Myers with open arms. Hopefully this acquisition will merely be another crucial step in the play-off run for the Rascals.
