Green Bay Blizzard News Release

In an effort to improve their erratic kicking game, the Green Bay Blizzard has made a change, releasing Wade Tydlacka and adding Kyle Marotz.

Marotz (5-9, 175 Northern Michigan), a native of Green Bay who played his high school ball at Bayport, was assigned to the Blizzard by the af2 League Office today. He will suit up and make his professional debut this Friday night against the Quad City Steamwheelers. Known for his unique combination of leg strength and accuracy, Marotz was invited to private workouts with both the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals of the NFL.

Marotz takes over the kicking duties from Tydlacka, who had been erratic all season. Tydlacka had great leg strength, but was unable to find his accuracy kicking toward the smaller uprights, which are much more narrow in Arena Football than in the outdoor game. Marotz kicked at nearly an 80% accuracy rate at Northern Michigan, especially impressive considering the wintry conditions he played in at places like Michigan Tech, Ohio University and Mercy Hurst (Pennsylvania).

The Blizzard takes on division rival Quad City Steamwheelers on Friday, May 19th at the Resch Center. Doors open at 6:30pm and kickoff is at 7:30pm. The game will feature the first-ever appearance of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, who will perform the National Anthem as well as before, during and after the game. Their appearance is presented by Piggly Wiggly, who is also holding the "Stomp Out Hunger" Food Drive. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to The Salvation Army and the DePere Christian Outreach Center.

Also taking place will be the 1st Annual J.J. Keller & Associates "High School Tug-of-War Challenge," where area football teams will compete for The Bradley Williams Memorial Trophy and the title of "strongest team."
