
Toronto Raptors' Matt Bonner To Do Opening Coin Toss

The Manchester Wolves, New England's professional arenafootball2 team, announced today that May 20 th will be "Oh Canada Day" in support of Jamaal Perry's recent move to Canada to play for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. The Wolves will be playing the Florida Firecats at 7:30 p.m. that night on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
As part of the day's celebration, Canadian citizens, with proof of valid citizenship, will receive a FREE ticket to the May 20 th game! Also, anyone that brings an unopened package of "Canadian Bacon", will receive a ticket in any section for half-price. These offers are good for day of game only on May 20th, and must be redeemed at the Verizon Wireless Arena Box Office. All food items will be directly donated to the New Horizons Food Kitchen in Manchester. Toronto Raptors NBA player and Concord, N.H. native Matt Bonner will also be joining in on the Canadian festivities by performing the opening coin toss.
Bonner is a former local basketball star that made it to the big time, as he just completed his second year with the NBA's Toronto Raptors, averaging 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in just 21 minutes of action per game. The Concord, N.H. native scored 2,459 career points, and was the first player in Class L history to top the 2,000-point plateau during his four years at Concord High School (1996-1999). Bonner also led Concord to a combined record of 77-6 and three straight state championships, while also garnering the Class L New Hampshire player of the year three consecutive seasons.
The 6'10 redhead known as the "Red Rocket" by Raptors fans, attended the University of Florida, and ended his career as the Gators' eighth all-time scorer with 1,570 points, one of only six players in school history with over 1,500 points and over 750 rebounds, and the only player in school history with better than 1,500 points, over 750 rebounds and more than 150 three-pointers. Bonner is known as one of the most complete student-athletes in college basketball, as he was the recipient of the Verizon Academic All-American of the Year for the sport of basketball in both 2002 and 2003.
"We're honored to have Matt's presence for our upcoming game, he's a true fan of arena football," said Wolves' Managing Partner Steve Schubert. "He's an outstanding New Hampshire athlete and great all-around person that has excelled both academically and athletically."
The Wolves' May 20th game will be "Military Appreciation Night" presented by Delta Dental and AAA. The first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a FREE Delta Dental/ Wolves toothbrush!!! AAA will also be raffling off great prizes each quarter, including a trip for two to New York City to see the "Rockettes" and a three-night stay at the Hotel Edison with roundtrip motor coach transportation!!!
The night will kick off at 6 p.m. with the band Afterburner performing live outside on the Verizon plaza along with a Vertical Dreams rock wall, a 21ft high inflatable tooth, and the Air Force's "Ricky the Recruiter". The game will start promptly at 7:30 p.m.
