LAST SERIES MEETING
Green Bay Blizzard @ Quad City Steamwheelers
April 15, 2006
OS Field at The MARK of the Quad Cities
Blizzard 57, Steamwheelers 34
Moline, Ill. - A five touchdown performance by the Green Bay Blizzard's quarterback, Ronnie Gordon, buried the Steamwheelers 57-34 in front of 3,878 on OS Field at The MARK of the Quad Cities.
The Blizzard jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the first quarter and never looked back. Gordon, a former Steamwheeler quarterback, found wide receiver Randall Lane 4:07 into the opening to give the Blizzard a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter the Steamwheelers traded scores with the Blizzard. Quad City got on the board for the first time when quarterback Tim Hicks found Tim Dodge running down the sideline for a 20 yard pass, cutting the lead to 13-6. After giving up 21-yard touchdown pass on the ensuing drive for the Blizzard, Quad City answered when Hicks once again found Dodge open along the boards. After catching the ball, Dodge dived into the endzone making it 19-6. Hicks, who finished the game with four touchdown passes and 244 yards on 21 completions, found Bo Smith open in the endzone with 30 seconds left in the half to cut the lead to 26-20, the closest the Steamwheelers would come the entire evening.
For the second quarter of the night Green Bay would shutout the Steamwheelers as Gordon threw his third and fourth touchdown passes in the third. Kicker, Wade Tydlacka got things started for the Blizzard in the third with a 24-yard field goal on a four play drive.
In the fourth quarter with the Steamwheelers down 57-27, backup quarterback Matt Pike came in and threw a 14-yard touchdown pass with 41 seconds remaining to avoid the worst home loss in Steamwheelers history.
Jack Walker Jr. led the Steamwheelers with 122 yards on nine catches. Defensively, Troy Graham and Sidney Lewis, who went out in the second quarter with an injury and later returned, both finished with 4.5 tackles.
Covell Crosby, led Green bay with six tackles, while Lane finished the game with 69 yards on five receptions.

LAST GAME RESET
Louisville Fire @ Quad City Steamwheelers
May 13, 2006
OS Field at The MARK
Coyotes 62, Steamwheelers 68 (OT)
(Moline, Ill.) - The Quad City Steamwheelers improved to 2-4 with an exciting 68-62 victory over the Louisville Fire in overtime, on OS Field at The MARK of the Quad Cities, to the delight of 4,563 fans.
Quarterback Tim Hicks, who finished the game with 405 yards (a Steamwheeler's record) and six touchdowns on 29 completions, hit wide receiver Tim Dodge down the sideline on a 12-yard pass play that sealed a sudden-death victory for the 'Wheelers. Both teams had already traded scores - both missing their respective PAT attempts - on their first possessions of overtime.
On the first play from scrimmage the Fire got on the board after Louisville Nick Brockinton recorded a safety by forcing Steamwheeler Hicks to intentionally ground the ball in the end zone. Both teams went on to trade the lead and scoring possessions the remainder of the first half with Louisville holding a 36-30 halftime lead.
After the half, the Fire scored on the opening possession of the third quarter with a 24-yard pass from QB Brett Dietz to WR Lance Taylor. Dietz, one of the most accurate passers in the af2, finished with 346 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception on the night.
The teams continued to trade possessions in the third quarter with the Steamwheelers scoring last with 1:26 remaining in the period. The 10-yard pass from Hicks went to Steamwheeler's OS Kris Peters, who tallied a game-high 148 yards.
In the fourth quarter, the Steamwheelers registered the first stop of the night by forcing the Fire into a 28-yard field goal attempt that hit the left upright. Hicks took over and led a five-play, 45-yard drive down the field. The drive ended with a 10-yard pass to Jack Walker Jr., putting Quad City back on top 50-49 with 7:55 remaining in the contest.
After another Quad City score the Fire would tie the game, however, after Deitz led the Louisville 45 yards down the field and threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Fryzel with no time remaining. The successful extra point attempt forced overtime.
In overtime, Quad City drew first blood after a seven play, 34-yard drive ended with a three-yard touchdown run by Macrea. A missed extra point attempt by Kimo Naehu set the stage for Louisville to win the game on their attempt in overtime.
Louisville tied the game again when Dietz hit Taylor on a 25-yard pass. A false start penalty was called on the Fire on the attempt, giving Quad City one last chance at a stop. Hendrix missed it wide right, giving Quad City the chance to win the game.
