OL/DL, Ben McCombs on the "Coach's Corner"

BAKERSFIELD - Bakersfield Blitz offensive lineman/defensive lineman, Ben McCombs will be a guest on the weekly broadcast of "The Coach's Corner" on Friday, May 19. "The Coach's Corner" will be on The KRAB Morning Show with Meathead, Desi, and Rocky Nash, Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

Back for the 2006 season, Ben McCombs (6'4, 260) opened the game against Rio Grande with an interception for 7 return yards, including 2 tackles. McCombs played for the Blitz in 2004 and then played for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados in 2005. In 2005, McCombs was ADT Defensive Player of the Game and was a four time recipient for the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game award in 2004.

Born in Bakersfield, McCombs moved to Santa Barbara when he was ten years old. He returned back to Bakersfield once signed on the Bakersfield Blitz team in 2004.

Entering their eighth week in the af2 2006 season, the Blitz face the Stockton Lightning for the second time on Saturday, May 20. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Rabobank Arena. In their last meeting, the Blitz returned home from Stockton with a victorious win and left the Lightning with a 26-55 defeat on the night of their home opener.

The Bakersfield Blitz are promoting "Student's Night" on Saturday, May 20. When students show their student I.D. at the box office, they can purchase a $6 ticket for the game against the Stockton Lightning.

Bakersfield Blitz maintained their winning streak as they dominated the game against the Rio Grande Dorados on Saturday, May 13. Their 53-45 victory brings the Blitz to an overall record of 5-1, holding their first place spot in the National Western Division.
