Great Lakes Loons News Release

LANSING, MI - Bobby Blevins took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and allowed one run through seven in the Loons' 4-1 win Friday night over Lansing. A crowd of 5,319 witnessed the pitching gem, played in a brisk two hours, three minutes.

Blevins (4-4) did not allow a hit until a leadoff Mike McDade single in the fifth inning. Lansing did not score until the seventh, when a McDade ground ball double play scored Johermyn Chavez from third. Cole St. Clair relieved Blevins in the eighth and pitched two scoreless frames, striking out four, to record his second save of the year.

In the first inning with one out Jaime Pedroza doubled, and then scored on an RBI single by Anthony Hatch to take an early 1-0 lead. The Loons have now scored in the first inning of all three games in the series.

Great Lakes tacked on three more in the fifth. Pedroza singled to plate Matt Wallach, who had singled. Then with runners at second and third, Lansing starter Josh Wells uncorked a wild pitch that catcher Chris House could not find right away. Gordon scored easily from third, and Pedroza scurried home from second for the Loons' fourth run.

The Loons conclude their four-game series in Lansing Saturday night. JonMichael Redding (7-2, 5.17 ERA), a right-hander, starts for Great Lakes opposite Lansing righty Jonas Cuotto (1-3, 5.35). Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Oldsmobile Park. The game will be carried in Mid-Michigan on ESPN 100.9-FM and online at Loons.com.

The Great Lakes Loons are the third-year Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
