The Kamloops Blazers went 0-2-0-0 in their two games last week to see their record drop to 26-30-2-2 which places them eighth in the Western Conference heading into their Eastern road trip. Here's what happened:
EDM-4, KAM-0: Thomas Vincour scored twice while Dalyn Flette made 23 saves as the Edmonton Oil Kings blanked the Blazers 4-0 on Friday night at ISC. Vincour and Craig McCallum scored first-period goals two minutes apart for a 2-0 lead after one. Brenden Dowd added a 5-on-3 PP goal in the second with Vincour deflecting home his second of the game early in the third. Final shots were 32-23 Oil Kings with Justin Leclerc taking the loss. The Blazers were 0-for-3 on the PP while the Oil Kings were 2-for-7.
VAN-3, KAM-2: James Henry scored twice and Spencer Machacek added a third-period powerplay goal as the Vancouver Giants held off the Blazers 3-2 on Saturday night at ISC. After a scoreless first, Henry banged in a Lance Bouma rebound for a 1-0 Giant lead. CJ Stretch tied the game temporarily as he deflected Jordan Rowley's powerplay attempt past Tyson Sexsmith...as Henry converted his own breakaway less than 2 minutes later for a 2-1 Vancouver lead after 40 minutes. Machacek put the Giants ahead 3-1 in the latter half of the third with Rowley converting a late chance with the extra attacker to close out the scoring. Final shots were 49-22 Giants with Tyson Sexsmith getting the win and Justin Leclerc taking the loss. The Blazers were 1-for-2 on the PP and 5-for-6 on the PK.
