Blazers Bounce Back, Beat Eagles 6-3

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK- The Oklahoma City Blazers ended the Colorado Eagles five game winning streak Friday night with a 6-3 win over the defending champions. Jared Dumba scored two goals for the Blazers who gained two points on Colorado and improved their record to 25-17-2 for 52 points. Three different Eagles scored as the Northwest Division leaders lost only their ninth game in regulation this season. The Eagles head to Wichita Saturday night to take on the Thunder at the Kansas Coliseum for their third Northwest Division road game in as many nights.

The Blazers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the first period. Aaron Goldade scored his first goal of the season at the 2:12 mark to give the Blazers the all-important first goal. Tim Earl gave the Blazers the two-goal lead 37 seconds later on a power play goal, his 13th of the season. The resilient Eagles battled back with a four-on-three goal by Erik Adams, his second goal in as many nights. The Blazers answered with a goal by Jared Dumba, a power play goal giving Oklahoma City a 3-1 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first period. Colorado's Scott Polaski cut the lead back to one goal before first intermission.

Aaron Grosul tied the game for Colorado with his third goal of the season on assists from Fraser Filipic and Scott Polaski. That would be the last tie the Eagles would see as the Blazers scored three unanswered goals to end the Eagles winning streak at five games. Gio Flamminio earned the game winning goal at the 14:59 mark of the second period. Jared Dumba scored his second goal of the game giving the Blazers a 5-3 lead heading into the second intermission.

Scott Barnes turned the lights out on the Eagles only one minute into the third period giving the Blazers their sixth and final goal of the game. There was no more scoring and the Eagles left Oklahoma City with a split outscoring the Blazers 10-9 in the two games.
