
Sher-Wood CHL Player and Goaltender of the Month Announced

The Central Hockey League has today announced the recipients of the Sher-Wood CHL Player and Goaltender of the Month awards for January, 2006. Oklahoma City right winger Michel Beausoleil earns Sher-Wood Player of the Month honors after scoring a CHL-high twelve goals during January, while Austin netminder Miguel Beaudry earns selection as the Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Month after posting an exceptional 1.93 goals against average and a .946 save percentage in six games. Both players will receive custom designed leather jackets from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL.
Beausoleil, who finished last season second in the CHL with 45 goals, registered points in 11 of the Blazers 13 games in January, finishing with 12 goals and 22 points. His most prolific outings came in back to back road contests. He scored twice and added an assist in a 5-4 loss in Memphis on January 13th, then scored four times and added an assist in a 5-7 loss in Tulsa the following night. Beausoleil's January production has moved him into the CHL's top ten leaders in both points (54) and goals (24).
Beaudry dropped a 4-3 overtime loss to Rio Grande Valley on January 6th, then recorded five straight wins for the Ice Bats, now winners of their last eight contests. He allowed a total of eight goals against in the five consecutive wins, and posted his first shutout of the season on January 26th, making 34 saves in a 1-0 win at Corpus Christi. A 2004-2005 CHL All-Star, Beaudry was acquired from the Memphis RiverKings on December 16th.
