Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - Youngstown SteelHounds General Manager George Manias announced today that forward Darryl Lloyd has been re-called by the Cleveland Barons, the SteelHounds primary American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate and affiliate of the National Hockey League's (NHL) San Jose Sharks.

"As an organization, we are very proud of Darryl getting this opportunity to showcase his talent at a higher level, "said Manias. "When we joined with the Barons as an affiliate this past summer, we envisioned exactly this situation and saw the dividends that could be gained with the Baron's close proximity. Darryl can be in Cleveland for a game tomorrow opposed to the amount of travel necessary for many teams when calling a player up."

Lloyd, 21, has played in 41 games for the SteelHounds this season ranking third on the team with 28 points and 13 goals. His 132 penalty minutes are second most on the SteelHounds. Prior to the season, Lloyd participated in Barons training camp before being assigned to the SteelHounds.

The Pickering, Ontario native was acquired by the SteelHounds in the CHL's Expansion Draft held in early June. Last season, he played with the Southern Conference Champion Laredo Bucks scoring 13 goals with 22 assists and 103 penalty minutes during his rookie campaign. The 5-10, 198-pound forward played his junior hockey with the Windsor Spitfires (Ontario Hockey League) where he totaled 83 career points (44-39=83) in 200 career games.

Lloyd will make his AHL debut tomorrow afternoon when the Barons host the Peoria Rivermen (AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues) at the Quicken Loans Arena with face-off scheduled for 1:05 PM.

The SteelHounds host the Memphis RiverKings tomorrow night at the Chevrolet Centre with the puck drop scheduled for 7:05 PM.
