Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (35-18-3) suffered a 7-3 loss the South Carolina Stingrays (23-20-11) on Tuesday night, in front of a crowd of 5,039 at Germain Arena.
The Stingrays came out of gate quickly putting the Everblades down 3-0 after the first 20 minutes. Craig Olynick opened the scoring just 2:06 into the game with his 10th goal of the season. Evan Schwabe and Trevor Johnson followed that with power play goals in the last 10 minutes of the period to give the Stingrays the three goal advantage.
In the second period, Florida got on the board after Brandon Coalter's dump in kicked off a glass support and into the slot, where Phil Aucoin fired the puck past a scrambling Davis Parley, who had vacated the net in anticipation of the dump in at 10:30. The goal was Aucoin's 16th of the season. Florida remained down by two until South Carolina notched two late second period goals. Cail MacLean opened a 4-1 lead for the Stingrays by wristing a shot past Everblades goaltender Phil Osaer at 17:08 while on the power play. South Carolina added to their lead when Likit Andersson scored with 41 seconds remaining in the period.
The Stingrays made it a 6-1 game 2:55 into the final period on MacLean's second goal of the night and 10th of the season. Florida responded with a pair of goals to cut South Carolina's lead in half. Paul Cabana extended his points scoring streak to five straight with a power play goal at 6:23 and John Ronan notched his ninth goal of the season at 14:10, but that was as close as the Everblades would get. South Carolina sealed the victory on Schwabe's second goal of the night with 2:48 remaining in regulation.
Osaer suffered the loss after allowing the six goals on 35 shots, dropping his record to 17-9-2. Parley collected the win by stopping 32 of 35 Florida shots to raise his record to 12-12-3.
On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 1-for-9, while the Stingrays closed out game going 3-for-5.
The Everblades return to action on Saturday, March 4 when they host on the Charlotte Checkers at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena. Saturday's game will be televised locally on UPN-8.
