Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

Boise, Idaho - D'Arcy McConvey tallied a pair of goals to lead the Idaho Steelheads to a 4-2 victory over the Phoenix RoadRunners in the opener of their three-game series before 3,449 at Qwest Arena in ECHL action Wednesday.

McConvey opened the scoring for Idaho (30-18-7) at 14:27 of the first period. David Bararuk created a turnover to the right of the RoadRunners net and fed a charging McConvey cutting down the slot. McConvey took the pass and beat Phoenix goaltender Mike Mole with a shot along the ice to give the Steelheads a 1-0 lead after the first period.

The RoadRunners (18-32-3) netted the equalizer just 6:31 into the second period on a two-man advantage power play goal. Brad Woods slapped a one-timer from Dave Cousineau past Idaho goaltender Steve Silverthorn to tie the game at 1-1. The Steelheads would regain the lead as Jarad Bourassa beat a screened Mole with a slap shot from the center blue line at 9:50 for a 2-1 advantage. But Shawn Snider countered just 32 seconds later when he lifted the puck over Silverthorn's left shoulder from the right-wing circle to knot the score at 2-2 at 10:22 of the period. However, it was the Steelheads who would have the period's final say. Blake Forsyth ripped a one-time slap shot past Mole from the high slot at 16:16 on the power play to give Idaho a 3-2 lead going into the second intermission.

Yet the RoadRunners were unable to come back for a third time. McConvey sealed the victory with his second goal of the night at 14:07 of the third period.

Idaho out-shot Phoenix 31-26. Mole stopped 27 shots as he fell to 14-24-3 on the season. The RoadRunners went 1-7 on the power play and held Idaho to just one power play goal on seven chances.
