Saskatoon Blades News Release

Regina, SK - The Saskatoon Blades earned a second straight pre-season win on Friday afternoon defeating the Moose Jaw Warriors by a score of 4-2.

The referees gave their whistles a good pre-season workout, handing out a combined 13 minor penalties in the matinee match. The Blades made good use of their power play opportunities going 3/6 on the man advantage.

Moose Jaw opened the scoring midway through the 2nd period thanks to Cameron Sterling beating Dorrin Luding over the blocker. However, the Blades would answer back with three goals of their own before the second intermission.

Chase Wouters tipped in a point shot from Emil Malysjev on the power play to tie the game at one. Three minutes later the Blades were back on the power play; this time Seth Bafaro ripped a wrist shot from above the circles to give Saskatoon a 2-1 lead. Max Gerlach would make it 3-1 Saskatoon in the final minute of the frame.

The third and final period saw the two clubs exchange goals and several more minor penalties dished out. Brayden Tracey tallied on a Moose Jaw power play while Zach Ashton one-timed home a back door feed from Logan Christensen-- also on the power play.

Majid Kaddoura, coming off a 2 assist performance last night, added another helper to go along with 4 penalty minutes in the Blades victory. Seth Bafaro had a goal, an assist, and 3 shots on goal; fellow right-handed defenseman Zach Ashton scored his first pre-season goal in the WHL. Veteran forward Logan Christensen chipped in with 2 assists. And as for the new import defender, Emil Malysjev looked confident in his first WHL pre-season tilt, assisting on Saskatoon's first goal of the game and seeing a fair share of time on the power play.

Dorrin Luding did his job between the pipes making 24 saves in the win.
