'Blades Make Deal With Peoria

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has traded for defenseman Bryce Charpentier from the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, defenseman Ed Hill was re-called by Lowell of the American Hockey League, and assigned to Peoria. Charpentier will be in uniform for Florida's game at South Carolina on Friday.

Charpentier skated in 12 games with Peoria notching one assist, and collecting 47 penalty minutes. The 22-year-old native of Temecula, CA began his professional career in 2003-04 splitting time between Long Beach and Toledo of the ECHL. Combined, the 6-foot-5, 220 lb. defenseman, collected five points (0g, 5a) and amassed 270 PIM in 55 games last season with the Ice Dogs and Storm. Prior to joining the professional ranks, Charpentier spent the previous two seasons with Salmon Arm of the BCHL where he notched a combined 14 points (2g, 12a) and 286 PIM in 79 games. In 2000-01 Charpentier split time between Danville and Cleveland of the NAHL, skating in a combined 36 games, collecting six points and 92 PIM.

In exchange, Hill, who had skated in 12 games with the Everblades this season, was re-called by the Lowell Lock Monsters and then assigned to Peoria. Hill had no points and 14 PIM in his 12 games with the ‘Blades this season. Overall, the 24-year-old played 82 career games with Florida over four years, collecting 33 points (13g, 20a). The former second round draft pick of the Nashville Predators has played a total of 175 games in his pro career.
