
Grrrowl's Mallette Named CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Greenville center Carl Mallette is the CCM TACKS
ECHL Player of the Month for November.
In his second professional season, the 23-year-old Mallette led Greenville
with eight goals, two game-winning goals and 16 points in 12 games in
November. Selected in the fourth round (107th overall) by Atlanta in the
2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Mallette leads the ECHL with 11
goals and is tied for second in the league with 21 points (11g-10a) in 17
games.
Mallette scored a career-high four points with two goals, including the
game-winning goal, in a 7-1 win at South Carolina on November 5. It was the
second two-goal game of the season for Mallette and the seventh of his
professional career. After registering two assists in a 7-6 loss to Pee Dee
on November 7, Mallette extended his scoring streak to five games with a
goal in his next three games. He then had a four-game scoring streak,
including a game-winning goal, with three goals and six points.
In his first professional season in 2003-04, Mallette finished among the
top five vote getters for ECHL Rookie of the Year after scoring 71 points
(28g-43a) in 73 games, ranking fourth among league rookies in assists and
points and fifth in goals. He scored 41 points (14g-27a) in 50 games with
Florida and 30 points (14g-16a) in 23 games to help Roanoke finish the
season 16-5-2 and advance to the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In the postseason, he
led Roanoke with four goals, three-power play goals, one game-winning goal
and eight points in four games.
Mallette played five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with
Victoriaville, scoring 418 points (151g-267a) in 318 regular season games
and 65 points (30g-35a) in 53 postseason games. He scored a career-high 49
goals and 125 points in 69 games in 1999-2000 and had a career-best 83
assists and 122 points in 71 games in 2001-02.
