Blades Looking to Complete Opening Round Sweep

ESTERO, Fla. - Fresh off a commanding 3-1 victory on Wednesday, the Florida Everblades have taken full control of the South Division Semifinals with a 3-0 series lead over the Savannah Ghost Pirates. The Everblades head into tonight's Friday night matchup at Enmarket Arena with a chance to close out the series and punch their ticket to the next round.
The Everblades have been in this position before and capitalized. Florida has won each of its last two playoff series after jumping out to a 2-0 lead, including a first-round sweep of the Jacksonville Icemen last season.
Now just one win away from a sweep, Florida leads the best of seven series. In Game 3, Florida controlled the pace early but was held scoreless in the opening period despite outshooting Savannah. Tarun Fizer broke through early in the second, and after Savannah answered, Carson Gicewicz responded with the go-ahead tally later in the frame. Gicewicz added an empty-netter late in the third to seal the win, while Cam Johnson turned aside 18 of 19 shots as Florida outshot Savannah 32-19 overall.
If necessary, Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday at Enmarket Arena, with Florida hosting Games 6 and 7 if needed.
