Blades Look for 3rd Straight against Reigning Champs
September 1, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
Today - The Saskatoon Blades play their third game in as many days as they prepare to face-off against the reigning WHL Champion Swift Current Broncos. The Blades have won their first two games on the pre-season schedule beating Prince Albert 5-3 on Thursday night and Moose Jaw 4-2 on Friday. Swift Current has only played one exhibition game; a 4-1 loss to Regina last night.
The roster - The Blades are still carrying 33 players on the pre-season roster, but that number is expected to be cut down following tonight's game. That means tonight will give certain prospects and youngsters one last chance to show their stuff at the WHL level.
Meanwhile, several veterans will likely make their pre-season debut. Dawson Davidson, Jake Kustra, Jackson Caller, Josh Paterson, Eric Florchuk, and Brad Goethals have all yet to suit up this pre-season.
Majid Kaddoura leads the Blades in pre-season scoring with 3 assists; five other players sit close behind with 2 points each. Kaddoura, a 2001 born defender, also leads the Blades in penalty minutes with 8 through two outings.
In goal, Dorrin Luding and Koen MacInnes each have a win. Luding (1999) was acquired in the off-season from Seattle while MacInnes (2002) is looking to impress after being selected in the 2nd round in the 2017 bantam draft.
Reminder: There will not be a live stream or radio broadcast, so follow along on the Blades Mobile App or on Twitter for live updates.
