
Blades Close Out Regular Season Ranked Seventh in CHL

The Saskatoon Blades (49-18-3-2) are ranked 7th in this week's final regular season edition of the CHL Top 10 rankings.
The Blades finished their 2008-09 regular season with a home and home series against the Prince Albert Raiders. On Friday, March 13th fans at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert witnessed a very exciting game that saw Blades defenseman Stefan Elliott tie the game at 4-4 with 6.4 seconds remaining in regulation time. The goal ensured the Blades left with one point, which clinched the Blades first Eastern Division Title in 15 years. The Blades eventually lost the game 5-4 in a shootout. The next night back at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon the two teams put on another exciting game, this time with the Blades triumphing 5-4, pleasing many of the 8,064 in attendance.
The Saskatoon Blades finished 2nd overall in the Eastern Conference and 3rd overall in the entire Western Hockey League. The Blades will now begin a best of seven playoff series versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Hurricanes went all the way to the WHL Finals last year before being swept by the eventual Memorial Cup Winning Spokane Chiefs.
