Vancouver Giants News Release
The Vancouver Giants and the WHL are proud to announce that 6 members of the Vancouver Giants organization have been named to WHL All Star Teams or have been named finalists or award winners to the year end WHL awards.
Vancouver Giants forwards Evander Kane and Casey Pierro-Zabotel as well as defenseman Jonathon Blum were named to the WHL First All Star team while defenseman Brent Regner was named to the Second All Star Team.
Giants Head Coach Don Hay has been named the Western Conference Coach of the Year and is a finalist for the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy as the WHL's top coach.
Jonathon Blum has been named the WHL Western Conference Defenseman of the Year and is a finalist for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as the WHL's top defender.
Giants General Manager Scott Bonner has been named the WHL Western Conference Executive of the Year and is a finalist for the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Trophy as the WHL's top executive.
Casey Pierro-Zabotel has been named the Bob Clarke Trophy winner as the WHL's top scorer. Pierro-Zabotel has scored 36 goals and 79 assists for 113 points this season. In addition, he also led all forwards in plus/minus with a +62.
"The players have all had great years as are very deserving of their recognition," comments Giants owner Ron Toigo. "The Giants organization is also very proud of Don Hay and Scott Bonner. It is my belief that over the past three or four seasons you would find it very difficult to find two people who work harder in this league to make their team better."
