Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks announced Wednesday afternoon that they have assigned defenseman Dillon Fournier from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. Additionally, the Fuel have named Zach Miskovic captain for the 2016-17 season, with Kevin Lynch, Tyler Currier and Drew Schiestel serving as alternate captains. Indy begins the 2016-17 season Friday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum against the Cincinnati Cyclones, during Opening Night presented by WTHR-TV.
Fournier, 22, returns to Indianapolis after appearing in 41 games with the Fuel over the last two seasons. The second-round selection of the Blackhawks (No. 48 overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft played in seven games with Indy in 2015-16 before an injury ended his season. A native of Montreal, Fournier has also recorded three assists in 23 career AHL games with Rockford. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman played four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, tallying 108 points (31g, 77a) in 207 games split between the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Lewiston MAINEiacs.
Miskovic enters his second season as the Fuel's captain, after becoming the second captain in club history prior to the 2015-16 season.
In separate roster moves Wednesday, the Fuel released forward Michael Colantone and defenseman Griffin Foulk. Heading into the first weekend of the ECHL season, the Fuel's roster stands at 22 players - 12 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.
