Today's Game
Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Gwinnett Braves in the third game of a four-game set from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Braves defeated the Herd 2-0 last night in a six-hit pitchers' duel to even the season series. After tomorrow's series finale, the Herd will welcome in the Durham Bulls for a four-game set on Friday.

The Bisons and Braves have split the first two games of this series. In 2012, the Bisons went 6-2 against the Braves, outscoring them 40-25 in eight games. With the loss last night, the Herd is now 20-14 all-time against Gwinnett, with a 12-6 record at Coca-Cola Field.
Today's Starter
LHP RICKY ROMERO will start his 8th game for the Herd tonight since being optioned to the Bisons on May 5th. In his last start at Pawtucket on June 14th, Romero pitched six scoreless innings while giving up only two hits and three walks. He also struck out three batters and improved his season ERA to 8.22.
Near No-No
Last night was the second time in four days a Bisons pitcher has taken a no-hit bid into at least the seventh inning. RHP THAD WEBER tossed seven no-hit innings on Saturday in Pawtucket before PawSox OF Alex Hassan broke it up with a home run two outs into the 8th. Tomorrow is the 16th anniversary of the Bisons lone modern era no-hitter, tossed by RHP BARTOLO COLON in 1997 against New Orleans.
Mauro Hits it Far-O
INF MAURO GOMEZ leads the International League with 18 home runs this season. The slugger has hit 11 homers and 22 RBI in 21 games since May 26. Gomez ranks third in the IL in slugging percentage (.575). Currently Gomez is leading the Herd with a three-game hit streak, with three hits (and a homer) in his last 11 at-bats (.272).
Bisons Bits
INF JIM NEGRYCH is 3rd in the IL with a .344 batting average while INF LUIS JIMENEZ is 6th (.332), also he is tied for second in runs batted in with 55 and fourth in slugging percentage (.568)...LHP TOMMY HOTTOVY has tossed four scoreless outings to begin his Bisons career (3.0 IP). He was promoted from Double-A New Hampshire on June 4.
Blue Jays Update
Last night, the Blue Jays (34-36) won their seventh straight game with an impressive 8-3 victory over Colorado. INF EDWIN ENCARNACION and C J.P. ARENCIBIA combined to drive in five of the eight runs scored on two home runs and two doubles. The Blue Jays look for a three-game sweep of the Rockies tonight (7:07 p.m.).
