Rochester Red Wings News Release
GAME NOTES:
- THE LEAD: Cody Grice hit two home runs including a first inning grand slam as the RailRiders hit four long balls and cruised to a 10-7 win in the series opener at Frontier Field. It was the second time in three days that Scranton/WB denied the Red Wings a chance to get back to the .500 mark... The Wings were also denied a season-high fifth straight win at home... It was the third time this season the Wings allowed four home runs.
- Antoan Richardson extended his on-base streak to 25 games with a second inning bunt single... It is the third longest current streak in the Interna- tional League behind teammate Chris Colabello, who extended his on-base streak to 27 games with a walk in the second, and Norfolk's Travis Ishikawa who has reached base safely in 32 straight Triple-A games... This is Richardson's second 25-game on-base streak this season. His other one came from April 16-May 14 and spanned across 23 games at New Britain (AA) and 2 games with the Red Wings... The Wings leadoff man went 1-for-4 before leaving the game in the 7th inning.
- Chris Herrmann extended his hitting streak to a tied for career-long 10 games with a leadoff double in the 9th inning... The 10-game streak is the second longest by a Red Wings player this season behind Colabello's 16-gamer... Over the streak, Herrmann is hitting 13-for-35 (.371) with four ex- tra-base hits, six runs and four RBI... Herrmann's last 10-gamer was 7/31-8/11/12 with New Britain.
- Red Wings shortstop Doug Bernier tied a career-high with four RBI (his second 4-RBI night of the season and 6th of his career) including a three-run triple in the 9th inning that brought the Wings to within three runs... Bernier's 35 RBI are already the third highest total of his career and second-most on the team... Bernier picked up three more hits to raise his average to .285 on the season -- the highest his average as been since April 29 (.291).
Attendance: 4,931
