Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats begin their next homestand Friday, June 21 at Louisville Slugger Field with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Rochester Red Wings, Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. The homestand features games on eight straight days from this Friday through Friday, June 28 plus two more games July 2 and 3.
A pair of giveaways highlight this weekend's games. The 2013 team photo giveaway will be this Friday and an insulated cooler bag giveaway will be Saturday. Jake the Diamond Dog will be working Friday's game, which will also be followed by postgame fireworks. The Bats' annual Faith Day concert, this year featuring The Afters, will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the 6:05 p.m. first pitch. Concert tickets may be purchased by calling the Bats' main office at 212-BATS.
The Bats' only "businessperson special" game of the summer will have an 11:45 a.m. start on Wednesday, June 26. A Budweiser $1 beer happy hour featuring live music from Leigh Ann Yost will take place on the Overlook Deck on Thursday, June 27 starting at 5:30 p.m. After the Friday, June 28 game, featured entertainment act Quick Change will perform and be followed by fireworks.
The homestand includes ten games in all beginning with four against Rochester from June 21 to June 24 and four against the Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, from June 25 to June 28. The division rival Indianapolis Indians, Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, visit Tuesday, July 2 and Wednesday, July 3. The Bats' Independence Day fireworks will follow the July 3 game.
Entering play Wednesday, the Bats have won six of their last seven games and are in sole possession of second place in the International League West Division with an even 36-36 record. Center fielder Billy Hamilton still leads the IL with his 43 stolen bases, 17 more than second-place Felix Pie from Indianapolis. Slugger Mike Hessman is tied for third in the league with 15 home runs and his next one will be the 400th home run of his professional baseball career. Righty Greg Reynolds, who will start this Friday's game, is second in the league with his 2.45 ERA and is the first Louisville pitcher to start a season 8-0 since Ralph Citarella in 1984.
