SYRACUSE, NY - Opening up a six-game set against the Syracuse Mets, the Buffalo Bisons took the opener 4-3 on Tuesday night from NBT Bank Stadium.

Shaun Anderson started and lasted two innings while giving up one run off one hit, a solo homer by Daniel Palka, who would later hit his second home run of the game off Nick Allgeyer in the fourth. Allgeyer ultimately gave up two runs over his two innings of work.

The Herd would score three runs in the third off a two-run single by Nathan Lukes, before a balk by Phillip Diehl allowed Lukes to score, though all three runs were charged to Mets starter José Rodríguez. The Bisons then took the lead in the fifth when Stevie Berman went deep for his fourth homer of the season.

Beginning in the fourth inning after Palka's second homer, the Herd's pitching staff combined to set down 14 batters in a row; Allgeyer got the first three, while Matt Gage and Graham Spraker each threw a perfect fifth and sixth respectively.

Brandon Eisert then got the next five outs - three via the strikeout - before a single by Nick Plummer ended the streak. Vinny Nittoli replaced Eisert to get the final out in the eighth, before closing things out in the ninth to record the four-out save.

The Bisons and Mets will continue their series tomorrow night, with Thomas Hatch set to face David Peterson at 6:35 p.m. EST.
