
Knights Drop Tuesday's Opener to IronPigs 8-1

(ALLENTOWN, PA) - The Charlotte Knights dropped the opening game of the six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 8-1 on Tuesday night from Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. Despite the loss, the Knights have still won six of the team's last nine games.
Charlotte shortstop Romy Gonzalez launched a solo home run in his return to the team's lineup. Gonzalez was activated off the injured list before the game and made his first appearance in Charlotte's lineup since June 18. His solo home run in the third inning of Tuesday's game was Charlotte's only run of the evening. It was his fourth home run of the year.
RHP J.B. Olson (1-3, 5.44) started the game for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed three runs in the first inning - his only inning of work on Tuesday. He allowed an RBI double in the first to Yairo Munoz and a two-run home run to Chris Sharpe. The IronPigs added two more runs in the third inning and three more runs in the fifth inning. Lehigh Valley slugger Josh Ockimey launched a three-run home run in the fifth inning to help power the 'Pigs to the game one win.
In all, the Knights tallied a total of four hits in Tuesday's opener. Second baseman Yolbert Sánchez had two of the team's four hits. He extended his hit streak to a season high nine games.
LHP Michael Plassmeyer (4-2, 3.06) earned the win for Lehigh Valley after he started the game and allowed just one run over six innings.
The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Wednesday night with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. from Coca-Cola Park.
