
Sharpe, Plassmeyer Guide 'Pigs to Victory

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (59-47) got a strong performance out of Michael Plassmeyer (4-2) as he struck out seven batters over six innings and a great night at the plate from Chris Sharpe to lead the team to an 8-1 win over the Charlotte Knights (40-66).
Yairo Munoz put Lehigh Valley on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning as he hit an RBI double against J.B. Olson (1-3). Sharpe followed with a two-run home run against Olson to extend the lead to 3-0.
Romy Gonzalez provided the only run of the game for Charlotte - a solo home run against Plassmeyer in the top of the third inning to cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 3-1. The 'Pigs responded with two runs against Hunter Schryver in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. Johan Camargo hit an RBI double that scored Munoz and Sharpe hit a sacrifice fly that scored Camargo.
Josh Ockimey hit a three-run home run against Yoan Aybar in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Lehigh Valley an 8-1 lead. The home run was Ockimey's fourth of the season.
Michael Kelly, Jace Fry, and Mark Appel each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
The IronPigs and Charlotte Knights continue their six-game series on Wednesday at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
