Bisons Rally Past RailRiders, 10-8

The first comeback victory of the season is in the books.
After trailing 8-3, the Bisons scored a combined seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings to rally past the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 10-8, on a sun-splashed Saturday afternoon at Sahlen Field. Jordan Patterson capped the comeback with his first hit as a member of the Herd, a game-winning two-run double.
Following a five-run outburst from the RailRiders in the fourth, the Bisons found themselves down by five heading to the bottom of the inning. The Herd trimmed the deficit down to two thanks to a three-run home run from Eric Sogard.

The lead was then shrunk to one later in the inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Andy Burns, bringing in Cavan Biggio after his first triple of the season.
The Bisons went back to work in the fifth inning with back-to-back infield singles from Michael De La Cruz and Roemon Fields. After a sacrifice groundout from Bo Bichette, Adams walked Sogard, which led to the Bisons having the bases loaded for the first time this season. Anthony Alford's walk in the next at-bat tied the score and set up Patterson's hit, which led to the Herd's eventual first comeback win of the season.
On a full count pitch, Patterson droe a double the opposite way into the left field corner. Fields and Sogard scored easily to give the Bisons the final lead they would need.

On the hill, Jordan Romano and Derek Law came into relief of Sean Reid-Foley. Together, the duo retired 10 straight batters through the two-out mark of the eighth inning to restore order to the slugfest. They combined to allow just one hit over 4.2 innings with five strikeouts. Romano received the win while Danny Barnes came in for a four-out save.
Trailing 1-0 heading in the bottom of the first, the Bisons responded with Alford's two-run home run, his first of the year, for a 2-1 lead. After Reid-Foley and his counter-part Chance Adams each threw a 1-2-3 second inning, the Rail-Riders went ahead 3-2 after Mike Ford's two-run home run in the top of the third. The Bisons answered though with Andy Burns' RBI single and tied the game at three.

The game was the 370th meeting between the two teams dating back to the start of the Modern Era in 1985. Buffalo is now 171-199 in the series.
The teams return to action tomorrow afternoon at Sahlen Field. First pitch is at 1:05. Blue Jays starter Clay Buchholz is scheduled to pitch for the Bisons.
