Buffalo Bisons News Release
The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons OF FRED LEWIS is the IL Batter-of-the-Week for July 9-15. Lewis is the first Bisons player to take home the weekly honor this season.
Lewis made the most of the All-Star shortened week, leading the International League with three home runs and seven RBI over the four days since the break. Lewis helped the Bisons take three out of four games in Pawtucket, going deep three times in the first two games of the series. Buffalo's leadoff hitter also stole two bases and scored five runs over the four-day stretch, extending his team lead in both categories.
On the season, Lewis leads the Bisons with a .295 (78-264) average, 16 doubles, 29 extra-base hits, 18 stolen bases and 50 runs scored. The 18 steals are the most for a Bisons player in a single season since OF Ben Francisco stole 22 bases during the 2007 campaign.
