June 9, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons open up a six-game in four-day series with a doubleheader against the Richmond Braves from The Diamond (6:00 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 4-4 homestand as they open up a 10-game roadtrip. On the hill tonight will be LHP Jason Stanford and RHP Jake Dittler. The two combined to work eight innings of a 9-3 victory over the Mud Hens on Monday morning. Richmond will counter with RHP Trey Hodges and RHP Ryan Basner.

FINALLY: The Bisons were scheduled to start the 2007 against the Braves for the third straight year, but snow and freezing temperatures forced the postponement of all four games in Buffalo, April 5-8. Only two will be made up in this series.

WHO'S HOME?: Because of the four straight snow outs at Dunn Tire Park and to keep competitive balance, the International League has decided to allow the Bisons to be the home team in the first game of today's and tomorrow's doubleheader.

THE FRANCHISE: Ben Francisco lost his 19-game hit streak last night but did reach on a walk. The Herd's second 19-game streak (Franklin Gutierrez), Francisco hit .423 (33-78). The outfielder's .351 batting average is still tops in the International League, while his 71 hits are T2nd.

HOT BAT: First baseman Ryan Mulhern has nine hits in his last 17 at-bats (.529), including five doubles and a home run. He is now tied for the IL lead with 20 doubles. His 30-extra base hits and .578 slugging percentage are also 2nd in the league and his .323 batting average is 7th.

HOT JUNE: Andy Marte was the Topps/IL Player of the Month in June 2006 and he's on pace for a repeat performance. The third baseman has homered in his last two games and three of his last four. In 7 June games, Marte is hitting .320 (8-25) with two doubles, three home runs and 9RBI.
