
Red Wings Take Flight Late in 4-2 Victory Over Bats

LOUISVILLE, KY-A one-run lead in the eighth inning was not enough for the Bats, as Rochester (31-27) scored three runs in the final two innings to defeat Louisville (31-31) in front of 11,919 fans Saturday night.
Bats' starter Mike Gosling struck out eight batters in 6.2 innings, including five in a row, however did not factor in the decision. Gosling allowed one earned run on three hits. Kirk Saarloos (0-1, 4.15) picks up the loss going 1.2 innings, while allowing five Red Wings' hits and two earned runs.
RHP Julio DePaula (3-3, 2.28) gets credited with the win, striking out one in 1.0 inning. Rochester starting pitcher Brian Duensing went 6.1 innings and allowed only one run.
Pedro Lopez led the Bats, going 3-for-5 with a RBI. Center fielder Chris Dickerson and first baseman Jesse Gutierrez had two hits apiece.
Red Wings' first baseman Glenn Williams went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Center fielder Denard Span went 2-for-4 and scored the go ahead run in the ninth inning.
The Bats and Red Wings play game two of their four-game series Sunday. LHP Phil Dumatrait (5-4, 3.46) will start for Louisville and LHP Dave Gassner (1-5, 5.88) will pitch for Rochester. First pitch is set for 6:15 p.m.
