Bisons Notes

May 2, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: This morning, the Buffalo Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series from Alliance Bank Stadium (11:00 a.m.). The Herd comes into today's game on a four-game winning streak following an 11-5 win last night. On the mound for Buffalo will be RHP Adam Miller, who struck out a season-high eight in a no decision last Friday in Pawtucket. The Chiefs will counter with RHP Jason Scobie, who is 1-0 in four games this year.

RUNS A PLENTY: The Bisons have outscored their opponents 39-16 in their last four games. On the year, the Herd has scored 116 runs, tops in the International League. Seven different Bisons have scored at least 10 runs, with Franklin Gutierrez leading the group with 16 runs scored.

NEVER TOO LATE: The Bisons have won four straight mainly because of their scoring late in games. In the last four games, 26 of the team's 39 runs have come in the seventh inning or later (67%). Last night, a six-run eighth inning snapped a 5-5 tie and gave the Bisons the win.

ROAD WARRIORS: At 10-3, the Bisons have the best road record in the International League. While their team batting average is almost identical at home (.271) and on the road (.270), they've posted a 2.81ERA on the road and a 4.29ERA at home.

RUNNING HERD: The Bisons were a perfect six-for-six stealing bases last night with Franklin Gutierrez and Trent Durrington each collected a pair. Buffalo has stolen 12 bases in the last four games and is now second in the International League with 33 steals. As a team, the Bisons have only been caught stealing four times for an 89.1% success rate.

RED HOT BAT: Franklin Gutierrez has the Bisons longest hit streak of the 2007 season. The outfielder has hit in 11 straight heading into today's action with a .412 (21-451) average, four doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and 15 runs scored. Nine of the 11 games have been multi-hit performances, raising his season average to .373.

ON A POWER TRIP: In his last three games, Keith Ginter has eight hits (.571, 8-14) a double, four home runs, eight RBI and six runs scored. Last night, he was the first Bisons players to hit a pair of homers in a game in 2007. The three-game stretch has almost doubled his slugging percentage from .283 to .537. He is now second to only Ryan Mulhern (.603) on the team.
