TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the fourth game of a five-game at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons have the 2-1 lead in the series after yesterday's doubleheader split. The Herd is now 2-6 on its final homestand of the season. Tomorrow's Fan Appreciation Night will be the club's final home game in 2012.
THRUWAY CUP: At 17-11, the Bisons lead the Syracuse Chiefs (16-13) by 1.5 games in the 2012 Thruway Series. The Red Wings (8-17) were officially eliminated with their game one defeat yesterday. The Bisons are 11-1 in their last 12 games against the Red Wings at Coca-Cola Field.
OH JENRRY: RHP JENRRY MEJIA will make his ninth start of the season. Mejia was reinserted into the rotation on July 30 and is 2-0 with a 1.11ERA in 24.1 innings of work since. Last Wednesday, the righty allowed just one run in six innings to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and struck out a season-high six. On the season, Mejia is 2-1 with a 1.12ERA as a starter.
PASCUCCI: OF VALENTINO PASCUCCI has homered on back-to-back days to give him a team-high 17 homers on the season. Pascucci has 55 homers in his Bisons career, 5th most in the modern era. The slugger is now just two homers shy of OF Alex Ramirez (57) for 4th place. Pascucci also has 189RBI in his three-year Bisons career, 6th most in the modern era.
HOMERING HERD: The Bisons hit four home runs in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader. The club now has 125 homers on the year, 3rd most in the International League. INF ZACH LUTZ hit his 10th of the year, giving the Herd five players with double-digit longballs.
BISONS BITS: RHP FERNANDO CABRERA leads all IL pitchers with 22 saves, and 54 appearances. On Saturday he recorded his 30th career save for Buffalo, the most in the team's modern era...OF MATT DEN DEKKER plated a run in each game of yesterday's twinbill. den Dekker has 46RBI on the season, 4th most on the team...OF FRED LEWIS scored two more times yesterday to give him 75 runs on the season. He is just three behind Columbus' Cord Phelps for the most in the International League.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (59-69) defeated the Astros, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field. Former Bisons RHP JEREMY HEFNER allowed one run in eight innings of a no-decision. 1B IKE DAVIS hit two home runs including a walk-off shot in the ninth inning. The Mets are off today and will play Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
