GAME #138 - ROAD GAME #69 - 7:05 P.M.

ROCHESTER RED WINGS (68-69) vs. BUFFALO BISONS (64-73)

RHP NICK BLACKBURN (2-1, 2.25) vs. RHP JENRRY MEJIA (3-2, 2.63)

ON LIFE SUPPORT: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the 4th game of their 5-game series and roadtrip at Buffalo (Mets) with slim post-season hopes alive in the International League Wild Card race. The Red Wings trail IL Wild Card-leading Pawtucket (Red Sox) by 5.5 games with 7 to play. After 2 with Buffalo and an offday Wednesday, the Red Wings return home Thursday for a 2-game set against the same Bisons.

a All but one of Rochester's final 7 games can be seen on Time Warner Cable Sports (TWCS) Channel 26. The lone exception is Saturday, when Syracuse University opens its football season against Northwestern University.

a The Wings are 10 games into a stretch of playing their final 17 contests against IL North opponents and they are 3-7 thus far. Rochester is just 28-45 against its division rivals overall. The Wings went 40-24 outside the IL North.

BAD TIMING: The Red Wings split yesterday's doubleheader at Buffalo and have lost 3 of their last 4 and 5 of their last 7. They are 3-8 since sitting a season-best 4 games above .500 at 65-61 on August 16. That was the first time the Wings had been 4 games over .500 since May 14, 2009, when they were 18-14.

a Rochester is looking for its first winning season since the 2008 club went 74-70. Rochester needs to go 5-2 the rest of the way to finish above .500.

a Rochester is 9-13 since their season-best 7-game winning streak July 29-August 5. Despite the recent downturn, the Red Wings are still 48-39 since sitting a season-worst 10 games below .500 at 20-30 on May 28. Going back further, Rochester is 54-46 beginning May 15.

IMPROVEMENT: With 68 wins, the Red Wings have already eclipsed their win total from both of the previous 2 seasons, besting their 49-95 record from 2010 and their 53-91 mark from 2011. Rochester needs 3 wins in its final 7 games to surpass their 2009 win total of 70. The Wings would need to win out to eclipse their 2008 victory total of 74.

POP THE CORK: The Red Wings yesterday snapped an 11-game losing streak at Coca-Cola Field with an 11-9 win in the 2nd game of the doubleheader. It was their first victory here since a 2-0 triumph in the 2nd game of an April 19, 2011 doubleheader. Rochester yesterday overcame a 4-run deficit in the first inning and 4 Buffalo home runs to win it. The win came after a 1-0 shutout in the first game of the doubleheader, the Wings' 4th shutout in an 8-game stretch.

a Rochester is 6-21 at Coca-Cola Field since the start of 2010.

a The Red Wings are 2-4 on the road since their 8-game road winning streak. They are 26-34 in true road games overall.

a The Red Wings have just 3 games remaining at Frontier Field, where they are 42-35. The 42 wins along Morrie Silver Way are the club's most since going 46-26 in 2008. The Wing host Syracuse (Nationals) on Labor Day, the final day of the regular season.

A BAD RUN: The Red Wings had scored just 9 runs in 6 games before busting out for 11 runs in the 2nd game of yesterday's doubleheader. The 11 runs were Rochester's most in a game since scoring a season-high 14 July 19 at Norfolk (Orioles). In their last 9 games, the Red Wings have been shut out 4 times and held to one run once. They have been held to 3 runs or less in 11 of their last 15 contests, a stretch that began August 13.
