Toledo CF Justin Henry Honored as International League Batter of the Week

The International League has named Toledo center fielder Justin Henry the League's Batter of the Week for the period from August 20-26. Henry is the second player from Toledo this season to be so honored and the first since April (Brad Eldred).

JUSTIN HENRY, Toledo Mud Hens IL BATTER OF THE WEEK Toledo's leadoff hitter Justin Henry paced the International League last week with 14 hits and a .538 batting average, nearly 100 points higher than his closest competitor. Henry collected multiple hits in five different games and sparked his Mud Hens to a five-game winning streak along the way. Henry's hot streak included a stretch of three consecutive three-hit games and four consecutive games with at least one run scored. Henry, who also collected four walks and two stolen bases, was 2nd in the IL with a .581 on-base percentage last week. For the season, Henry is now 3rd in the League with 135 hits.

27-year-old Justin Henry is in his sixth season as a professional player, spent entirely within the Detroit farm system. He had played just 50 games at the Triple-A level before the 2012 season. Henry is a native of Houston, Texas.
