Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a two-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). This is the start of the final regular season homestand for the Herd as the team will also host Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for three contests before a two-game set with Syracuse. Buffalo is 33-32 at home this season.

vs. the Red Sox

The Bisons are 8-4 against the Red Sox this season, needing just one more victory to clinch the season series. Buffalo will end the season with a three-game series at McCoy Stadium, September 5-7. Ten of the 12 games between the clubs this year have been decided by three or fewer runs.

Todd Redmond

RHP TODD REDMOND makes his eighth start and 21st appearance for the Herd today. The righty has allowed three runs or less in three straight starts, including a loss to Syracuse last Saturday where he yielded just two earned for six innings of work. On the season, Redmond is 1-3 with a 4.45 ERA as a starter.

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE continues to lead the International League in several categories by wide margins. His .349 average is 34 points better than any other hitter and his .428 is the best by 49 points. Hague has a 10-point cushion in slugging pct. (.484) and seven more RBI (86) than the next closest hitter. Hague brings a six-game hit streak into tonight, over which he has averaged .458 (11-24).

Ben Rowen

RHP BEN ROWEN has made 10 scoreless appearances for the Herd since the Blue Jays claimed the righty off waivers (Cubs) on August 3. In 11.2 innings, Rowen has allowed eight hits and walk while striking out seven. All eight hits he has allowed have been singles.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons rank 2nd in the IL in both most walks drawn (461) and fewest strikeouts (795)...LHP COLT HYNES has made 10 straight scoreless appearances, allowing just four hits in his last 9.2 innings of work...The Bisons hit two home runs last night (INF JON BERTI, OF CHRIS HEISEY) for the first time since August 6 in Charlotte...RHP SCOTT COPELAND is 3rd in the IL in ERA (2.46) and 2nd in wins (11).

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (71-55) have won five straight thanks to a 12-4 win in Texas last night. Edwin Encarnacion hit a grand slam and former Bison Kevin Pillar had three hits and a home run. Toronto now leads the AL East by two games as they look for a three-game sweep in Texas this afternoon (2:05 p.m.).
