Tonight's Game

The Buffalo Bisons host the Durham Bulls in the first game of a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). This series will be the Herds final before the 2014 All-Star Break. Durham is hosting this year's All-Star Game, Wednesday, July 16 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

vs. the Bulls

Tonight's contest is the Bisons' first against the Durham Bulls. The home team dominated the series in 2013 with the Bulls sweeping Buffalo at home and the Herd winning three of four at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons visit Durham, August 7-10.

Aaron Sanchez

RHP AARON SANCHEZ will make his sixth start since joining the Herd on June 12. Still looking for his first Triple-A victory, Sanchez is coming off of his second straight quality start after earning the no-decision, July 5 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He allowed three runs in six innings while striking out four to the RailRiders last Saturday.

Go-Go

INF RYAN GOINS went 2-4 last night in Rochester for his fourth straight multi-hit performance and 12th in his last 22 games. Over the last 12 games, the infielder has hit .371 (17-46) with three doubles and four RBI. Goins leads the Bisons with 25 multi-hit games this season.

Pillar of Strength

OF KEVIN PILLAR raised his average 10 points last night from .301 to .311 with his second four-hit game of the season. The slugger has now moved into 8th in the IL in batting. In a night where he hit his first lead-off home run of the season and third overall, Pillar earned his 21st multi-hit game (2nd on Bisons).

Bisons Bullpen

In the five-game series in Rochester, the Bisons bullpen combined to retire 39 of 42 batters faced. The group allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out 15 in 13.0 innings of work. For the season, Herd relievers have posted a 3.25 ERA.

INF JARED GOEDERT became the second Bison with double digit home runs after hitting a solo shot last night in the sixth inning...INF DAN JOHNSON leads the IL with 17 home runs...C JACK MURPHY has been promoted to Buffalo from New Hampshire while C HECTOR GIMENEZ has been released by the Blue Jays.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (48-45) lost the series finale yesterday to the Angels, 8-7. Former Bison INF Munenori Kawasaki went 2-for-5 with a run scored, raising his average to .286. Toronto is off today to travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays Friday in their final series before the All-Star break.
