(Uptown Charlotte, NC) - Tyler Moore and Destin Hood both homered in the sixth inning and led the Syracuse Chiefs to an 11-6 win over the Charlotte Knights in the opening game of their four-game series from BB&T Ballpark on Thursday. The win was the 56th of the season for Syracuse, which is the most in the International League this season.

Syracuse center fielder Steve Souza Jr. had four hits on the night to bump his International League leading batting average up to .374 this season. Souza went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Shawn Hill (3-4, 5.18) allowed six runs on 10 hits over 6.1 innings and was saddled with the loss in game one. The Charlotte right-hander surrendered both home runs in the sixth inning and lost for the third time this season with the Knights (six games).

Charlotte scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to a Matt Tuiasosopo three-run home run -- his seventh of the season. It was Charlotte's second home run of the game giving them a league-best 111 on the season. Blake Tekotte launched his 11th of the season in the fifth inning.

Marcus Semien, Carlos Sanchez, and Josh Phegley all ripped three hits apiece. Phegley's three-hit game comes on the day that the Indiana native was named to the Triple-A All-Star Game. The 26-year-old backstop raised his batting average to .259 on the season.

Syracuse starter Blake Treinen (5-0, 2.54) went five innings to earn the win. He allowed three runs on eight hits and struck-out four batters.

RHP Deunte Heath (5-1, 3.22) will take the mound for Charlotte in game two on Friday, while the Chiefs will hand the ball to LHP Aaron Laffey (11-3, 2.82). Pre-game radio coverage of Friday's 7:05 p.m. game begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 730 AM, WRHI (94.3 FM and 1340 AM) and online at www.charlotteknights.com.
