Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Columbus Clippers in the third game of a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Clippers have won 8-1 and 3-2 to begin the series. Buffalo is still 8-7 in the month of July and just 5.0 games back of 1st place in the IL North Division.

The Bisons are 2-3 against the Clippers. Buffalo won two of three in Columbus, May 18-20. The Herd must win tonight and tomorrow to pick up the series victory over the IL West division foe. Buffalo has gone 5-3 against the Clippers in each of the past three years.

Scott Copeland

RHP Scott Copeland makes his first start in nine days. The righty took the loss on July 9 in Rochester, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings of work. It was just the second time in 10 starts this season he has allowed more than two runs. Copeland has held opponents to just a .203 average against and two home runs in 236 at-bats.

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE collected his 37th multi-hit game of the season last night, finishing 2-4 with a pair of singles. Hague has 16 more hits (118) than any other batter in the IL and still leads the circuit with a .349 average. His .438 on-base pct. is 49 points higher than any other batter in the IL and 2nd among all full-season minor leaguers, behind only Double-A Corpus Cristi's INF A.J. Reed (.449 at two levels).

Andy Burns

INF ANDY BURNS has hit in 10 of his last 12 games with four multi-hit efforts since July 4. (.298, 14-47). Burns ranks 2nd on the Bisons in hits (84), doubles (16) and total bases (109).

Bisons Bits

OF ALEX HASSAN has hit .341 (15-44) with five doubles and three RBI in 12 games this month...RHP CHAD JENKINS is 5-1 with a 1.69 ERA in 20 relief outings without an earned run against him since June 9.

Star Wars Night

Tonight is the Bisons 8th annual Star Wars Night, presented by Alfred State College and to benefit Compass House. The previous seven events have drawn 99,840 to Coca-Cola Field, including sell outs in each of the past two seasons. The Herd is 3-4 on Star Wars Night.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (46-46) opened up their second half with a 6-2 win over the Rays. A five-run fifth inning featured home runs from Josh Donaldson and Justin Smoak. Former Bison Drew Hutchison improved to 9-2 with the win. Toronto hosts Tampa Bay again this afternoon at 1:07 p.m.
