TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a three-game series at Alliance Bank Stadium (2:00 p.m.). The Herd began their six-game roadtrip with a 6-4 victory over the Chiefs last night. After tomorrow's series finale in Syracuse, the Bisons will continue their roadtrip with a three-game series in Lehigh Valley.

vs. CHIEFS: The Bisons earned the 6-4 victory in the first matchup with the Chiefs this season. The win gives the Herd a 3-2 record in the 2012 Thruway Series, a half-game behind Rochester (4-2) for first place. Buffalo and Syracuse have played 225 times since the Bisons returned to the International League in 1998. Buffalo has the 113-112 edge.

WE ARE FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA will look to bounce back from the first Triple-A loss of his career. The righty allowed six runs in four innings on Monday against Lehigh Valley. The start before that, Familia struck out eight batters in five innings for his first Triple-A win, a 12-3 victory over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 11.

MrVP: INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI has homered in back-to-back games for the second time this season. The slugger went deep April 10 in Rochester and April 11 vs. the Yankees. He also homered on Thursday in Buffalo before hitting his team-leading sixth homer of the year last night. Pascucci now has 44 home runs in his Bisons career, the 9th most in the club's modern era.

HOMERING HERD: With two more home runs last night, the Bisons now have 19 homers on the season. That total is tied with Pawtucket for the most in the International League. Nine different Bisons have gone deep. Buffalo now has six multi-homer games in 16 games this season. Bisons pitchers, meanwhile, have allowed just eight home runs in 142.0 innings of work.

STARTING STRONG: After only one quality start in the club's first 12 games, the Bisons rotation has posted four straight quality starts. Since Tuesday, Herd starters are 3-0 with a 2.08ERA. The group has allowed just 19 hits with 19 strikeouts in 26.0 innings of work. On the season, Buffalo's rotation has posted a 3.94ERA in 16 games.

METS UPDATE : The Mets (7-6) fell to the Giants in 10 innings last night, 4-3, at Citi Field. Former Bisons CF KIRK NIEUWENHUIS hit his third home run of the season. He has posted a .371 average since being promoted from Buffalo on the second game of the season. New York takes on San Francisco again today at 1:10 p.m.
