Once again the PawSox offense rolled, thumping Durham 9-5 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at McCoy Stadium. The bats came up with 11 hits, including home runs by Mauro Gomez, Will Middlebrooks and Lars Anderson. Middlebrooks has homered in four straight games and Gomez has three home runs in the last two outings. The PawSox managed at least one run in each of the first 7 innings. Daniel Nava, Jose Iglesias and Middlebrooks had two hits each. With the win, Pawtucket improves to 12-5, alone in first place in the North Division, a half game ahead of idle Lehigh Valley.
Ross Ohlendorf (3-0) was outstanding through five innings. In the sixth, he allowed 4 runs, before Mark Melancon came on. Lefty Rich Hill worked his first inning of a rehab assignment (Tommy John). Hill looked sharp despite allowing a solo homer with two outs in the eighth. Garrett Mock threw a scoreless ninth.
The series continues on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Justin Germano is scheduled to start for Pawtucket.
