TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a four-game series from McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons extended their winning streak to a season-high five games following a win in last night's contest. The Herd is currently in 4th place in the International League North division (47-45).
vs. PAWSOX: The Bisons are 3-6 against the Red Sox this season. Pawtucket swept four straight from the Herd the last time the two teams met, June 14-17 at Coca-Cola Field. Since their return to the International League in 1998, the Bisons are an even .500 (116-116) against the Red Sox.
WE ARE FAMILIA : RHP JEURYS FAMILIA takes the hill for his International League-leading 19th start of the season tonight. The righty is coming off his best start of the season in Syracuse on July 6. In that outing, he allowed just one run in a season-best 6.1 innings of work. On the road this season, Familia is 5-2 with a 3.53ERA and 42K in 43.1 innings of work.
LUTZ RETURNS: INF ZACH LUTZ went 1-5 with an RBI last night in his return to the Herd. Lutz hit .250 (5-20) for St. Lucie after missing 49 games on the Bisons disabled list with a broken left hamate bone. Lutz has hit .301 (28-93) with three home runs and 14RBI so far this year.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances last night (2-2, RBI, 3BB). The infielder leads the Herd in multi-hit games (24) and is second in base on balls (45). In his first nine games in July, Satin has three homers, eight RBI, and 11 walks.
BISONS BITS: RHP FERNANDO CABRERA notched his IL-leading 17th save of the season last night. The All-Star is 17/18 (94%) in save opportunities this season and also leads the league in appearances (37) and games finished (34)...LHP GARRETT OLSON picked up the win last night after tossing three perfect innings of relief. This was his first relief appearance since April 5 against Pawtucket...This is the first time the Herd has won five games in a row since 2010 (August 16-August 21).
METS UPDATE : The Mets (46-40) were off yesterday and will begin the second half of their season in Atlanta tonight against the Braves (7:35 p.m.). RHP CHRIS YOUNG will take the mound for New York. Former Bisons LHP JOSH EDGIN has been promoted to the Mets and will be making his Major League debut.
