Norfolk Tides News Release
Lehigh Valley's Pat Misch held Norfolk to two hits over seven innings to pitch the IronPigs to a 4-1 win over Norfolk in front of 7,674 fans at Harbor Park Friday night.
Misch (7-10) walked one and struck out five in the contest, as he retired each of the final 10 batters he faced. The only damage Norfolk could muster against Misch was a solo homer by Brandon Waring with one out in the third inning.
Tides starter Tommy Hunter (2-1) turned in a solid outing, although one bad inning helped saddle him with his first loss in three starts with the Tides. Hunter yielded four runs on four hits and a walk in the fifth frame, with the big hit of the inning a bases-clearing triple off the bat of Pete Orr.
Hunter worked a season-high 7.1 innings and threw a season-high 109 pitches - 81 for strikes. He walked one and struck out seven.
L.J. Hoes went 0-for-3 in the contest, snapping his hitting streak at 20 games. The 20-game stretch is tied for the longest in the IL this season and is the 4th-best in Tides' franchise history.
Bill Hall left the game in the fifth injury with a left hamstring injury. He will be reevaluated Saturday.
The loss snapped Norfolk's seven-game home winning streak and dropped the Tides to four games back in the IL South division.
The two clubs will continue their four-game set on Saturday night, with first pitch from Harbor Park slated for 7:15. Jason Berken (1-3, 3.23) will take the mound for Norfolk against IronPigs right-hander B.J. Rosenberg (2-2, 2.36).
