TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park in the final game of the 2012 season (1:35 p.m.). Today's contest is also the rubber match of a three-game series between the IL North Division rivals. The Bisons will finish the 2012 season with a losing record for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

vs. IRONPIGS: The Bisons are 8-7 against the IronPigs this year. With a victory today, the Herd can win the season-series victory over Lehigh Valley. The only other year the Bisons had a winning record in the five-year history of the IronPigs was 2010 went they went 10-6 against them.

OWEN: RHP DYLAN OWEN gets the ball for the club's final game this season. It will be his 29th appearance and 11th start of the season. Owen started the second game of a doubleheader on August 26 and allowed three runs in 1.2 innings of work. As a starter this season, Owen is 2-3 with a 6.26ERA.

MVP: OF FRED LEWIS brings an 11-game hit streak into today's finale. Since August 22, the outfielder has hit .375 (15-40) with three doubles, three home runs and eight RBI. Named the Bisons 2012 Most Valuable Player last week, Lewis leads the Bisons in average (.294), doubles (26), triples (7), extra-base hits (46), slugging percentage (.482), runs scored (80) and 25 stolen bases.

THE CLOSER: In his first season with the Bisons since 2006, RHP FERNANDO CABERERA has written his name all over the club's record books. He made his 57th appearance last night, tying Rich Batchelor's 1990 single-season record. An IL All-Star and member of the Bisons "˜All 25 Seasons' Team, Cabrera has now made more appearances (136) and saved more games (30) than any pitcher in the modern era. He also has more strikeouts (233) than any Bisons reliever.

BISONS BITS: The Bisons are 39-40 against the IL North so far, including a 21-18 mark in divisional road games...OF VALENTINO PASCUCCI has 58 career home runs as a Bison, 4th most in the modern era. He also has 190RBI in his three years with Buffalo, 6th most in the modern era...RHP COLLIN MCHUGH is scheduled to start for the Mets today in St. Louis. McHugh was 2-4 with a 3.42ERA in 13 starts with the Bisons this season.

METS UPDATE : The Mets (64-70) completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins in Miami with a 5-1 win on Sunday. OF JASON BAY hit a first-inning grand slam and New York never trailed. RHP CHRIS YOUNG allowed just one run on five hits for the victory. The Mets are now in St. Louis to face the Cardinals today at 2:15 p.m.
