Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a three-game series from Victory Field (7:15 p.m.). The Herd has won three straight games, coming off a 3-1 series win over Louisville at Coca-Cola Field. Buffalo is 19-17 on the road this season.

Last Game (BUF 9, LOU 6)

The Bisons batted around in the 6th inning for the second straight game, scoring five runs in a 9-6 win over Louisville. DH Jesus Montero had three hits and two RBI in the game while OF Junior Lake had two doubles, a triple and two runs scored. RHP Drew Hutchison struck out seven over six innings to improve to 5-3 on the season.

vs. Indianapolis (0-0)

Tonight's contest is the first of six between the former American Association rivals. The Indians don't come to Coca-Cola Field until August 9-11. Indy won five of six from the Herd last season. The Bisons have not won a season series over Indy since 2004 (6-2).

Scott Diamond

LHP Scott Diamond makes his 14th start of the season tonight. The southpaw is back on normal rest after going 11 days between his previous two starts thanks to a one-game promotion to the Blue Jays, June 13 (1.0IP). Diamond has allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of his 13 outings.

Jesus Montero

DH Jesus Montero has five hits and five RBI in his last two games. The slugger now ranks 7th in the International League with a .303 average and 3rd with his team-best 43 RBI. He is also just five hits (82) behind Indy's Adam Frazier for the IL. For the season, Montero has hit .315 with runners in scoring position (23-73, 35RBI).

Ben Rowen

RHP Ben Rowen has not allowed a run in a month and a half. The reliever has made 16 scoreless appearances since May 8, a stretch that includes 22.1 innings of work, nine base hits and 18 strikeouts. Rowen has allowed just two of 18 inherited runners to score.

Melky Mesa

OF Melky Mesa has excelled in three games since being promoted from New Hampshire (AA) on Monday. Mesa is 5 for 10 (.500) with a doubles, three RBI, two walks and a .583 on-base pct. Mesa hit .215 with 26 extra-base hits in 61 games with the Herd last season.

Bisons Bits

Yesterday, RHP Bo Schultz became the seventh different Bisons pitcher with a save this season. Buffalo's 27 team saves are three more than any other IL team...The Bisons are an IL-best 26-6 when scoring first.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (40-34) were off on Thursday. Toronto opens up six-game roadtrip tonight in Chicago against the White Sox (8:10 p.m.). The Blue Jays are just 2.5 games back of Baltimore for first place in the AL East division. Former Bisons' RHP Aaron Sanchez gets the start tonight. The righty is 7-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 14 starts this season.
