Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

RHP David Buchanan allowed just one run over six innings and a pair of runs in the sixth for Lehigh Valley helped lift the IronPigs (43-32) to a 4-1 win over the Durham Bulls (34-42) on Friday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Buchanan (4-4) gave up the one run on five hits while walking one and fanning five in his 6.0 IP. RHP Michael Mariot (1.0 IP, K), RHP Luis Garcia (1.0 IP, K) and RHP Edward Mujica (1.0 IP, H) combined to get the final nine outs for Lehigh Valley. Mujica picked up his 18th save of the season.

In the afore-mentioned two-run sixth, Taylor Featherston drew a two-out walk and scored from first on J.P. Crawford's RBI triple to tie things at one before Crawford scampered home on an RBI bloop single from Nick Williams to give the IronPigs a 2-1 lead.

Bulls starter Adam Wilk (2-8) allowed the two runs on four hits to go along with a walk and seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Williams' single extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Durham took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first when Eury Perez led off with a double, advanced to third on a groundout and later scored on Richie Shaffer's RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, Brock Stassi drew a leadoff walk, went to second on a passed ball, to third on a groundout and scored on a perfectly placed bunt single from Darnell Sweeney to open up a 3-1 lead for the Pigs. Later in the frame, Sweeney stole second and scored on Crawford's (2-4, 3B, 2 RBI, R) RBI single to extend the IronPigs lead to 4-1.

The series continues on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. as LHP Anthony Vasquez (0-0, 6.10) will be on the bump for the Pigs against Bulls LHP Justin Marks (2-5, 4.22). This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
