Tribe Misses Mark against Buffalo, 1-0

Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Indians starter Frank Duncan allowed only one run in six innings, but the Tribe could not convert in a 1-0 loss Friday night at Victory Field.

Duncan (4-3) recorded seven strikeouts in six innings to hold the Bisons to only one run. Struggling in the third, Duncan surrendered an RBI single to Jesus Dominguez that would be the only run for either side.

The Tribe saw two pitching changes (Curtis Partch and Dovydas Neverdoskas) after Duncan finished his night.

The Indians (40-34) were held scoreless on seven hits. Bisons' pitcher Scott Diamond (4-7) captured the win. He concluded the shutout victory with four strikeouts through seven innings.

The night's standout save went to Willy Garcia with a double play during the fifth inning. Shutting down the Bisons' (41-34) hope to score another run, Garcia caught and launched a fly ball from deep right field to third base to nail Jio Mier trying for third.

The bottom of the ninth inning presented the Indians with an opportunity to change their fate. Josh Bell stepped up to the plate with bases loaded, but lined hard into a double play at second base to end the contest.

Returning home for the second game of the series on June 25, the Indians will host the fourth of seven specialty jersey nights during MARVEL's The Hulk night with a 7:05 p.m. start time.
