July 24, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons open up a four-game series with the Charlotte Knights from Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m.) Buffalo is 4-1 so far on this nine-game in eight-day homestand. On the mound tonight will be RHP Jeff Harris. Harris has won his last two decisions, including a six-inning one-run effort against Rochester on July 2. The Knights will counter with LHP Heath Phillips.
HAPPY HUNDRED: The Bisons are 100 games into their 2007 season. At 55-45, the Herd leads the IL Wild Card race by 2.0 games over the Durham Bulls. Buffalo is also just 1.5 games behind Scranton/WB for first in the IL North division.
GO WEST: This series against Charlotte is the last time the Bisons will face a non-divisional opponent in 2007. Starting Saturday, Buffalo's final 38 games are against IL North teams. At 27-15, the Herd has the best divisional record in the North.
SUPER JOE: Infielder Joe Inglett became the first Bison player in over a year to collect two hits in the same inning. Inglett homered and had a two-run single in the Herd's seven-run third inning in last night's game two. The last Buffalo hitter to accomplish the feat was Ben Francisco on July 3, 2006 against Rochester.
COMPLETE EFFORT: RHP Sean Smith became the sixth different Bisons hurler to toss a complete game. The staff has seven complete games on the year, the most for the team since recording eight in the 2002 season.
HOME COOKIN': After a six-game losing streak on the road, the Bisons have averaged .343 in the first five games of this nine-game homestand. Yamid Haad (.700, 7-10, 2RBI) and Keith Ginter (.500, 5-10, 2RBI) have led a breakout performance by the offense.
