Thurston Leads Phillies Minor Leaguers Again

OTTAWA - Lynx 2B Joe Thurston was named the Philadelphia Phillies Minor League Player of the Week today, for the week of July 16-22. This is Thurston's second time winning the weekly honour this season, having topped Phillies Minor Leaguers for the week of June 11-17.

Thurston, 27, hit safely in seven of eight Lynx games last week, accumulating a .314 average (11-for-35) with one home run and four runs batted in. He is second in the International League with eight triples and is hitting .341 for July. Thurston is batting .276 for the Lynx this season, with 3 HR and 41 RBI. He is second on the team in hits (105), stolen bases (14), walks (35) and runs scored (51).

This is the fourth weekly honour for the Lynx this season. In addition to Thurston's two honours, C Jason Jaramillo was the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week for the Week of April 16-22 and OF Lou Collier took home the honour for the week of May 7-13.
