OTTAWA - The Philadelphia Phillies have released Lynx IF/OF Randy Ruiz.
Ruiz, 29, hit .219 with 4 HR and 11 RBI in 22 games since being transferred from Double-A Reading June 26. He combined for a .320 average with 10 HR and 44 RBI in 69 games with Altoona and Reading of the Double-A Eastern League this season. Last year, Ruiz led the Eastern League in runs batted in (87) and extra-base hits (62) while finishing second in the League with 27 HR and 35 doubles. Ruiz has a career .301 average with 128 HR and 553 RBI over his first eight professional seasons.
