Today's Game

This evening, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs in the middle game of a three-game series. Following the series at NBT Bank Stadium, the Herd will return home to play a four-game home and home series against Scranton Wilkes/Barre that includes the July 3rd Independence Eve celebration at the ballpark. After returning home from Moosic, PA, Buffalo will welcome the Chiefs July 6-8.

Last Game: BUF 4, SYR 5

RHP Murphy Smith worked five innings in the spot start for Buffalo and was in line for the victory, until a late rally by Syracuse lifted the Chiefs to a victory. OF Anthony Alford led the Herd's offense, 3-5 at the plate on Friday with a solo HR and 2RBI. Syracuse scored four times in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks in part to three straight bases loaded walks.

Syracuse (6-3)

The last series between the Bisons and Chiefs was May 21-24 at Coca-Cola Field. The four-game series was split with the Herd taking the first two and the Chiefs taking the last two. Buffalo makes just two trips to NBT Bank Stadium this season, with the next representing the last four games of the regular season on August 31 and September 1-3. In two starts against the division rival, RHP Chris Rowley has a 2.77 ERA in 13 IP (1-0).

Today's Starter: RHP Nick Tepesch

RHP Nick Tepesch is making his fourth start for the Herd after beginning the season with New Hampshire (AA). The veteran is in search of his first Triple-A win of the year, with a no decision in his last start on June 25 vs. Pawtucket. He went 6.0IP, 3H, 1R/ER, 2BB, 5SO against the PawSox.

Anthony Alford

OF Anthony Alford collected his 11st multi-hit game of the season in the loss on Friday with three base hits. Alford had two extra-base hits, with an RBI double and solo HR for Buffalo. The outfielder has played in 24 games in June, adding a .286 batting average with 11 of his 16 RBI coming this month.

Roemon Fields

OF Roemon Fields stole his 15th base of the season on Friday, third place in the International League in the category. Fields now has 60 career SBs with the Bisons in parts of three seasons. He is currently in third place on the Bisons' Modern Era record list for steals behind Greg Tubbs (67) and Dave Roberts (97).

Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

INF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two hits for Buffalo on Friday, adding his 26th RBI with the Herd. His double was one of three extra-base hits for the Bisons in the game.

Bisons' Bits

C Danny Jansen and INF Jason Leblebijian will represent the Bisons in the 2018 All-Star Game on 7/11. Jansen is leading the team in batting average (.299), hits (58), and RBIs (39). The backstop also is in the IL top ten in batting ranking 9th and is second in on base percentage with .413. Leblebijian leads the Herd in runs (33) and homeruns (10).

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (38-43) used three runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Friday night. Former Bisons RHP Marcus Stroman notched his first win of the season with a seven inning effort for the Blue Jays. 1B Justin Smoak added a two-run HR for the offense. Prior to their 1:07 p.m. start on Saturday, the team announced that RHP Ryan Tepera was placed on the 10-day DL and added RHP Jake Petricka from Buffalo.
